The Volunteer Experience Specialist for YouVersion is primarily responsible for developing and executing strategies to support an excellent serving experience for YouVersion volunteers, as well as increase volunteer engagement. This role will work cross-functionally with YouVersion Volunteer Managers (staff) and their teams on engaging and caring for volunteers, recruiting, overseeing volunteer onboarding, span of care, and creating systems to support the volunteer team. This role supports the team’s direction, initiatives, and ministry efforts to achieve outcomes that further Life.Church’s mission and reach people for Christ.

  • Lead through the planning and execution of organization-wide YouVersion volunteer events and leadership sessions.
  • Refine and implement organization-wide YouVersion volunteer communication strategies and initiatives.
  • Lead volunteer appreciation strategy and manage inventory, shipments, and budget allocation.
  • Provide development opportunities to ensure all YouVersion volunteers are equipped with the necessary tools needed to be successful.
  • Partner with Volunteer Operations, Volunteer Managers, and Data team to build volunteer retention strategy.
  • Evaluate roster management within volunteer span of care.
  • Collaborate with YouVersion volunteer teams to understand needs and ensure recruitment efforts are aligned with team needs.
  • Partner with the YouVersion Marketing team to develop and implement a volunteer recruitment strategy.
  • Create and scale volunteer recruitment processes to ensure processes are efficient and effective.
  • Develop surveys and additional ways to gain feedback from the Serving Community, analyze results, share reports with the team, and collaborate on strategies for improving the volunteer experience.
  • Partner with the Volunteer Operations team to maintain a resource hub for Volunteer Managers (staff) to reference policy and procedure documents, along with access to tools that support them as they care for their volunteer teams.
  • Create guidance for staff for best practices in leading YouVersion volunteers.
  • Collaborate with Volunteer Managers and the Volunteer Operations team to create a volunteer portal, bringing current volunteer sites and resources into a shared ecosystem.
  • Manage emails from volunteers during the onboarding process.
  • Lead regular Volunteer Managers (staff) collaboration meetings.
  • Implement unified orientation processes and leadership promotions for volunteers.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to foster relationships and partnerships.
  • Ability to self-motivate, make independent decisions, and solve problems.
  • Maintain flexibility and initiate the creation of new processes and project strategies.
  • Excellent at process and organizational management to coordinate, structure, and provide vision to projects.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to analyze complex problems, identify underlying issues, and develop effective solutions in a dynamic work environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years of related work experience.
