At Life Without Barriers, we’re all about creating safe, supportive environments where children and young people can thrive. Every day, we work closely with families, carers, and communities to help shape brighter futures.

From supporting children and families to empowering people with disability, mental health, or those seeking refuge — we’re here to break down barriers and build better lives.

This house is located at Bronte. There are two young people aged between 12 and 14 years old. Their interests include a passion for video editing, designing cartoon characters and developing an interest in basketball. Our other young person enjoys walking and swimming, so long as they feel supported in their environment. They also love listening to and watching music videos.

Our ideal candidates must have experience connecting with and supporting with young people who have received a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and an intellectual disability. Exposure to or a willingness to learn communication facilitation strategies (such as key word signs and using visuals) is essential. In addition to this, performing personal care is a requirement of this role.

A proactive attitude and a nurturing approach, combined with the ability to maintain boundaries with warmth and consistency are key in helping our young people achieve their potential.

This would be a great opportunity for people studying occupational therapy, speech pathology, education, social work or psychology who want to put theory into practice.

This residential home operates 24/7, therefore successful applicants will need to be able and willing to work a roster which regularly includes afternoon, overnight (including sleepover) and weekend shifts.
