Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day care and supervision to children and young people including support with routines, personal care, meals, activities, school and transitions
  • Support children and young people to participate in daily decision making and community engagement
  • Build consistent, supportive relationships with children and young people, families and significant others to promote engagement, wellbeing and positive development
  • Support and mentor other team members by modelling trauma informed practice and contributing to a positive team culture
  • Complete required documentation including case notes, daily reports, compliance records and maintenance requests
  • Maintain a safe, calm and structured home environment by completing household tasks and following safety policies, procedures and standards
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings and Care Team Meetings
  • Complete House Manger duties during times of leave or training.

Requirements

  • Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention (or other relevant qualification).Note: A qualification is not essential for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants with relevant experience.
  • Experience working with children and young people with trauma, disability, disadvantage or complex needs in residential or similar settings
  • Working knowledge of current Northern Territory legislation and standards relating to out-of-home care.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive professional relationships with children, young people, families and stakeholders
  • Experience working in a team environment and supporting or mentoring other staff in day to day practice
  • Sound understanding of child development and trauma informed care
  • Ability to complete accurate documentation and follow policies and procedures
  • Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certificates
  • Current unrestricted driver’s licence

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and NT Working With Children Check (Ochre Card)
