Position Summary
The Site Safety Manager/Coordinator audits jobsites by educating and motivating workers, considering safety and health risks in the planning of work tasks, to protect workers from work-related injuries and illnesses
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for preventing and eliminating the risk of injury and other safety concerns
- Assist Superintendents and Foremen by educating personnel on safe work practices
- Educate workers to properly complete and utilize the Pre-Task Analysis process in planning their work
- Conduct site specific new hire safety orientations
- Conduct comprehensive onsite safety assessments, document findings, and review with Project Management
- As directed, manage supply of consumable and company owned safety equipment, ensuring sites have adequate inventory
- Ensure proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is available to workers and provide training on proper use
- Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained in proper working order with necessary guards and safeties
- Educate workers to properly use the Toolbox Talk meetings to communicate safety plans
- Provide information, signs, posters, PPE, barriers, etc. to projects as needed; ensure job specific Emergency Action Plan is well communicated and understood
- Educate workers on the proper use of Accident Reporting documentation to ensure required records and reports are complete and accurate; complete incident reporting and investigation as required
- Participate in investigating all accidents resulting in lost time injuries or major property, liability, or equipment damage, producing investigative reports
- Assist Superintendent as needed in post-accident treatment of injuries
- Maintain safety files and records, preparing reports for management as needed
- Assist Superintendent as needed in meeting the safety needs of the owner, General Contractor, or Construction Manager
- Ensure all job site electrical hazards are marked and protected to the greatest extent possible
- Validate that company safety policies and procedures are understood and consistently followed
- As directed, understand site schedules and related manpower curves
- Attend weekly project management meetings
- Attend monthly Safety Committee meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Education
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety/Health or equivalent combination of training and experience
Work Experience
Required:
- 5 years of safety experience within the construction field or relevant field experience
- Proficient in OSHA regulations
Skills & Competencies
- Solid understanding of the building construction process
- Strong organizational skills
- Basic typing and computer skills
- Ability to establish effective relationships with field personnel
- Ability to proactively complete tasks in a timely manner
- Strong multi-tasking skills

Travel
- Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected
- Will travel 75% of the time for the first two years.
