Lime is hiring a Senior Industrial Designer to join our dynamic Hardware Design team. We are seeking a creative, thoughtful and knowledgeable designer to help us craft the future of shared micro-mobility hardware. In this role, you will work alongside the SF based design team and imagine industry leading hardware products and experiences start-to-finish through concepting, prototyping, detailed refinement, and DFM support. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on industrial designer to make an impact delivering sustainable, intuitive, and lasting mobility solutions at a fast-moving company.
This is a hybrid position that combines remote and onsite work. The incumbent will be required to be onsite at our San Francisco Hardware Development Lab 2-3 days each week.
Responsibilities

Lead projects that impact Lime riders globally, from conception to market launch.

Collaborate daily with ID, ME, and broader crossfunctional stakeholders to provide multifaceted design solutions, proactively guiding programs and escalating risks through impactful visualization and design work.

Mentor design team members, providing project feedback and support ID skill development.

Develop and present elegant industrial design solutions for compelling, mass-produced mobility products – with an eye towards manufacturability and durability - for our current and future fleets.

Create lightweight, rapid concept mock-ups for stakeholder review and develop great designs through iterative prototyping at our in-house 3D print lab and metal shop.

Execute a well-rounded design process - including sketching, complex 3D surface development, detail refinement, CMF, and excellent presentation storytelling - to drive high-quality ID team outputs from problem statement to final delivery.

You are comfortable moving open-ended projects forward with limited direction; driving execution by setting clear deliverables and milestones.
You have experience designing products from start to finish collaborating with engineering development and defending key details to maintain ID and UX integrity.
You hold a high bar for excellence in industrial design.
You are comfortable working with cross-functional stakeholders to understand complex problems and collaboratively identify pragmatic paths forward based on design impact.
You craft and present high impact design presentations to leadership, building strong narrative supporting industrial design work.
You have experience as a project team lead.
Preferred Experience:
BA in Industrial Design with 7+ years of industrial design experience.
A portfolio showcasing recent in-market products you’ve designed described with a thorough ID process, polished skillset, and refined aesthetic sense.
Proficiency with Solidworks, Keyshot and Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience using AI tools (ie Vizcom etc.) in creative workflow
Experience developing ruggedized, transportation or micromobility products, in addition to consumer products.
Experience working with overseas teams and vendors.
Ability to travel to Lime markets and factories in the US, Europe, and Asia as needed.
