Loft Federal is seeking an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to help design and secure the systems that power our national security space missions. You'll partner with software, systems, infrastructure, and mission engineers to integrate cybersecurity throughout the system lifecycle—from architecture and implementation through authorization and continuous monitoring.
This role combines hands-on security engineering with RMF execution, ensuring our systems meet government security requirements while enabling rapid mission delivery.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Embed cybersecurity into the design and development of space and ground systems.
- →Develop secure system architectures and implement security controls aligned with NIST RMF and DoD requirements.
- →Partner with engineering teams to identify, assess, and remediate security vulnerabilities.
- →Support system hardening, vulnerability management, and continuous monitoring.
- →Conduct security architecture reviews, threat modeling, and risk assessments.
- →Collaborate with DevSecOps teams to integrate security into automated development pipelines.
- →Work closely with government customers, ISSMs, and program teams to maintain compliant, mission-ready systems.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of Information Systems Security Engineering or cybersecurity engineering experience.
- Experience implementing the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST SP 800-53 security controls.
- Experience developing RMF artifacts and supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) efforts.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux administration, system hardening, and vulnerability management.
- Strong understanding of secure system architecture and cybersecurity best practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Active Top Secret security clearance; TS/SCI eligibility preferred.
Nice to Have
~2 min read- Experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or national security space programs.
- Knowledge of cloud security, Kubernetes, containers, or DevSecOps.
- Experience with ACAS, Nessus, DISA STIGs, or other security assessment tools.
- Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture.
- CISSP, ISSEP, CAP, Security+, or similar cybersecurity certifications.
