In 2018, we began with a WhatsApp group with a simple hypothesis: people in tier-2/3 towns weren’t really using the internet meaningfully yet. We believed that if we started with local content in their own language, they’d come back every day; once there was a habit and trust, that same space could naturally grow into classifieds and, eventually, something they used for almost everything online.This spark became Lokal. Our first instinct was to put everything in one place & one app - local updates, classifieds, jobs, matrimony and more. It worked, till it stopped working. Users gave us the insight - when one use case outweighs the others, everything else seems like noise. We listened. Like how Craigslist quietly seeded a generation of focused companies & marketplaces, we began unbundling and verticalising.

Today, Lokal is a house of focused apps, many products, one mission:

Astro Lokal is a fast-growing audio, video, and chat-based platform operating across multiple regional languages. We are building a safe, engaging, and trustworthy community experience for our users and hosts. As we scale rapidly, we are looking for proactive and detail-oriented professionals to join our Trust & Safety team.

We are looking for a Community Moderator who will be responsible for reviewing and moderating audio, video, and chat conversations on the platform. The role involves ensuring compliance with community guidelines, identifying inappropriate or harmful content, and maintaining a safe and positive user environment.

The ideal candidate should have strong judgment skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive content professionally.

• →Review and moderate audio, video, and chat conversations as per platform guidelines
• →Identify, flag, and escalate inappropriate, harmful, or policy-violating content
• →Ensure consistent implementation of community standards and moderation policies
• →Audit recorded conversations to maintain quality and compliance standards
• →Maintain accurate moderation records and contribute to periodic reports
• →Engage with users and hosts to clarify platform policies when required
• →Stay updated with evolving moderation guidelines and safety protocols
• →Support the Trust & Safety team in maintaining platform integrity and user trust

• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
• Prior experience in content moderation, community moderation, or a similar role preferred
• Strong understanding of community guidelines and platform safety standards
• Good decision-making and analytical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Malayalam & English (Read, Write & Speak mandatory)
• Basic knowledge of CRM tools, Excel, and computer operations
• Ability to handle sensitive content in a professional and composed manner
• High attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as in a team

• Experience in Trust & Safety operations
• Familiarity with social, audio, or video-based community platforms
• Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume moderation environment
