Laborer (Rochester, NY)

As a Laborer, you will support the Traffic Signalization Division in the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal systems and highway lighting. This is an entry-level, hands-on role ideal for individuals who are reliable, safety-conscious, and eager to learn and grow within the electrical construction trade.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with installation of conduit, wiring, and signal equipment under supervision
• Load, unload, and organize materials, tools, and equipment at job sites
• Support the setup and takedown of temporary traffic control systems (signage, cones, etc.)
• Prepare worksites by digging trenches, placing foundations, or setting poles
• Help install signal heads, streetlights, cameras, and other infrastructure
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Work in proximity to hazardous equipment and energized systems under guidance
• Perform basic tasks from ladders or bucket trucks (with training and supervision)
• Participate in training opportunities related to safety and electrical systems

Minimum Requirements:

• Valid NYS Driver’s License and reliable transportation required
• Previous experience in construction, electrical, or roadway work a plus
• Willingness and ability to perform physically demanding labor in all weather conditions
• Strong team player with good communication skills
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn on the job
• Availability to work standard hours (typically 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM), with potential for overtime, night work, and occasional travel
• Commitment to safety protocols and on-site discipline
• OSHA-10 certification strongly preferred

Compensation:

• $22.00–$26.00/hr. plus prevailing wage opportunities
