Position Overview
This role is for an existing full-time, permanent vacancy on our Toronto and surrounding GTA sites.
The Site Superintendent (SS) is a leadership role responsible for overseeing daily construction operations and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with the Project Manager and office team, the SS coordinates site activities, supervises workers and subcontractors, and upholds MARANT Construction Limited’s commitment to excellence, safety, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and oversee construction activities from project start to completion.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager and project team to support successful project delivery.
- Supervise workers and subcontractors, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to required quality standards.
- Monitor project progress, site conditions, and workforce performance.
- Maintain a safe and compliant worksite, including required documentation, safety stations, and regulatory requirements.
- Enforce MARANT Construction Limited’s health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Identify and resolve site issues to minimize delays and maintain project schedules.
- Foster positive working relationships with clients, workers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism and MARANT’s core values on every project.
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Journeyman or equivalent qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial construction experience with an emphasis on tenant fit-outs/leasehold improvements.
- Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in site supervision/management position, within an commercial construction environment, with an emphasis on tenant fit-outs/leasehold improvements on schedule and within budget.
- Completion and maintenance of required Ministry of Labour certificates and training including WHIMIS, Working at Heights, Basics of Supervisor, Occupational Health & Safety Awareness for Supervisors and others as required.
- Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances, and legislation.
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication (written, verbal, non-verbal), and organizational skills.
- Ability to grow and maintain positive, respectful relationships with multiple groups (co-workers, clients, subtrades, consultants, etc.).
- Ability to work productively and collaboratively with all levels of the organization and project team.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and multiple demands.
