Description:

We are seeking an experienced Director, Cancer Biology to join Mariana’s Biology organization, advancing personalized medicine and radiopharmaceuticals. You are an experienced cancer researcher and drug hunter. You will be responsible for the execution of biological studies and perform research project leadership responsibilities, contributing scientifically and strategically across our portfolio for the development of the next generation radiopharmaceuticals.



Illustrative Breadth of Responsibilities:

  • Key contributor to Biology department leadership team, providing input to Biology strategy, resource allocation, and project progress
  • Drive cancer biology and translational strategies for assigned programs and support overall biology initiatives
  • Serve as internal subject matter expert and be responsible for providing mentorship and hands-on training for associates in the Biology department
  • Provide support in management of biology budgets in partnership with Head of Biology to ensure financial responsibility in alignment with corporate goals and approved budget
  • Serve as Biology Lead/ Co-Project Leader for key discovery-stage program
  • Design and execute on biological, biochemical and biophysical assays and mechanistic studies to advance project, demonstrating in vitro activities and in vivo efficacy as well as to define mechanism of action
  • Support and contribute to global project teams to deliver project milestones and transitions by providing scientific oversight and direction enabling achievement of program milestones
  • Evaluate, select, and manage internal and external (CROs) biology studies to support development of program strategy
  • Manage and lead team of 2 scientists to execute on delivery of corporate and Biology department goals
  • Work collaboratively across different functions to plan experiments, communicate results, and manage team
  • Communicate results, perform cross-functional management of project data, timelines, and provide updates to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with various Research line functions to drive performance, project priorities, and meet program milestones
  • Present research findings at scientific conferences
  • Play a key role in development of IND package(s) for assigned programs and support overall IND package development as necessary
  • Multi-task across several projects and manage time effectively to achieve results

 

Requirements/Skills:

  • PhD or equivalent degree in Biology or related discipline, with 6+ years’ relevant industry experience or BS/MS in Biology or related discipline, with 10+ years’ relevant industry experience
  • Experience and deep knowledge in the field of oncology required
  • Experience leading discovery project teams to successfully deliver on goals
  • Experience supervising and mentoring junior scientists
  • Experience with state-of the-art laboratory methods essential to advance oncology drug discovery projects. Skilled in a broad range of cellular and molecular biology techniques such as proliferation assays, FACS, Western, ELISA, genome editing, siRNA/shRNA knockdown, qPCR, stable cell line generation and 3D cell culture systems
  • Strong understanding of bioinformatic tools and in vitro/ in vivo models for target validation, and proof-of-concept and mechanism of action studies
  • Experience in the management of CROs and academic collaborations
  • Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
  • A team player with a great sense of urgency and accountability
  • A leader with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong passion for the discovery of transformative targeted therapies in a fast-paced start-up environment which values innovation, collaboration and empowerment

Mariana Oncology Compensation Summary

The salary for this position is expected to range between $174,400.00 and $261,600.00 per year. Your compensation will also include a performance-based cash incentive.

 

The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and will be reviewed periodically upon joining Mariana Oncology. Mariana may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.
