Precision starts in the field.

At Martin Concrete Construction, we don’t just build structures — we build careers, develop talented teams, and take pride in doing things the right way. Our success is built on precision, teamwork, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work on every project.

We’re looking for a Field Layout Engineer who is detail-oriented, technically skilled, and comfortable working hands-on in the field. If you have a strong understanding of construction layout and surveying, enjoy solving problems in real time, and take pride in accuracy, this could be a great opportunity to grow with Martin Concrete.

As a Field Layout Engineer, you’ll play an important role in ensuring our projects are built accurately and according to plans and specifications. You’ll work directly with Foremen, Superintendents, project teams, and field crews to establish and maintain precise layout and survey controls throughout the project.

This is a hands-on, field-based position where your technical expertise will directly impact the quality, efficiency, and success of our construction projects.

What You’ll Do

    • Perform precise site layout and manage construction planning to ensure project accuracy.
    • Execute and maintain horizontal and vertical survey control using advanced tools such as GPS, levels, and total stations.
    • Monitor and maintain project safety and quality standards at all times.
    • Organize and oversee project documentation, including survey notes, correspondence, submittals, and RFIs.
    • Deliver weekly as-built reports on all completed work.
    • Collaborate with the site Foreman/Superintendent to ensure project specifications are met.
    • Assist in formwork and falsework design if qualifications align.
    • Maintain all issued survey equipment and electronics.

    Qualifications

    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings and specifications.
    • Strong ability in geometrical and mathematical calculations.
    • Expertise in surveying tools and site layout processes.
    • Solid knowledge of basic computer systems and software.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Reliable transportation and a willingness to travel frequently.

    Physical & Field Requirements

This is an active, field-based position that requires regular presence on construction jobsites. The Field Layout Engineer must be comfortable working outdoors and navigating active construction environments.

    The role regularly requires:

    • Walking and standing for extended periods throughout the workday.
    • Moving throughout active construction sites and navigating uneven terrain.
    • Climbing stairs, ladders, and accessing elevated areas of construction.
    • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain.
    • Working at heights and around active construction equipment.
    • Lifting and carrying survey equipment, materials, and tools weighing 50 pounds or more as needed.
    • Wearing required jobsite PPE, including hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, and work boots.

    Travel & Work Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site position requiring regular travel to Martin Concrete project locations across the United States.
