Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma required; graduate of a Medical Assisting program preferred
- Prior experience as a Medical Assistant preferred, not required
- Prior experience working with electronic medical record software preferred, not required

Primary Responsibilities
- The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing both clinical and administrative support to assigned providers (Neurosurgery and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation) to ensure efficient patient care and practice operations. Responsibilities encompass a blend of direct patient care activities and administrative functions, with the proportion of clinical and administrative duties varying based on the needs of the provider, patient volume, and operational requirements. The Medical Assistant is expected to perform both aspects of the role and adapt priorities as needed to support the delivery of high-quality patient care and service.
- Help develop and maintain a corporate culture that supports the mission and values of Mayfield Clinic
- Prepare patients and medical records for office visits.
- Greet and room patients, obtain and document weight, medication lists, allergies, medical histories, and family history.
- Coordinate patient flow and maintain efficient clinic operations.
- Prepare patients for providers by assisting with procedures such as injections, wound care, EMG-related preparation, and other office-based treatments.
- Prepare examination rooms and maintain appropriate supplies and equipment.
- Obtain laboratory results, imaging reports, and outside medical records.
- Communicate with pharmacies, hospitals, imaging centers, and other healthcare providers as needed.
- Provide patients with instructions regarding medications, procedures, follow-up appointments, and treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Place diagnostic imaging orders, medications, and pre-op orders on behalf of the physicians
- Complete surgery consenting
- Follow infection control, HIPAA, OSHA, and practice policies.
- Provide cross coverage for team members supporting other providers, and during high-volume days.
- Leverage Mayfield technology including Outlook and Teams.
- Other duties as assigned.
