Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this full-time position will be to prepare, present and manage budgets for the Worcester County Health Department. This position will also apply analytical and mathematical skills to support the agency's fiscal and accounting functions.\r\n\r\n\r\nResponsibilities include:\r\n\r\n\r\n Assisting with the development & administration of grant-funded budgets;\r\n Monitoring & approving expenditures to ensure alignment with budgetary priorities and constraints;\r\n Analyzing financial data and preparing projections, forecasts, and recommendations;\r\n Compiling and submitting required financial reports to management and external agencies;\r\n Budget planning and expenditure tracking support to program managers and department staff;\r\n Maintaining financial records in accordance with agency policies and record retention requirements;\r\n Participating in year-end closing activities; and\r\n Assisting with audits by providing supporting financial documents as needed.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThis position may be required to work some occasional evenings and/or weekend hours. The selected applicant must be willing and able to travel to all Worcester County Health Department sites.\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:�Five years of experience�in budget preparation, presentation and execution. \r\nNotes: \r\n1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience�in budget preparation, presentation and execution for the required experience.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute 30 credit�hours of graduate education from an accredited college or university in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, political science or public administration for the required experience. \r\n3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service� experience as a commissioned officer in the Budget Officer classifications or Financial Management specialty codes in the Budgeting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required�experience.�\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess:\r\n\r\n\r\n Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel\r\n Experience working with the Maryland Financial Management Information System (FMIS) or other accounting software\r\n Experience with federal and state grants\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n
