Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide assistance to the Director of Environment of Care by assuming responsibility for the development and management of the Safety, Fire Safety, Hazardous Materials and Waste, and Emergency Operations Plans of the hospital. This includes assessing safety and health risks and assisting in the coordination of the initiation and implementation of hospital-wide risk reduction strategies. This position provides ongoing, organization-wide processes to collect information about deficiencies, degree of compliance with standards, and opportunities for improvement in the Hospital's Environment of Care Management Program, as well as Federal, State, and Local fire and safety regulations.\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:�� Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a State high school equivalency certificate. \r\nExperience: Two years of experience in safety inspection, safety investigation, or fire prevention. \r\nNotes:�\r\n1. Additional education at an accredited college or university with a concentration in fire protection/science or occupational health and safety technology may be substituted, on a year for year basis, up to�two years of the required experience. \r\n2.�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Occupational Health and Safety classifications or Occupational Health and Safety specialty codes in the Occupational Health and Safety field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.��\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess the following:\r\n\r\n\r\n Experience in fire safety\r\n Experience in code compliance\r\n\r\n\r\n
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employees in this classification must provide a telephone number where they can be reached. \r\n2. Employees in this classification are�subject to call-in twenty-four hours a day. \r\n
