POSITION DUTIES
This position independently performs the day to day digitization of materials in the Annapolis facility. The focus if the digitization of patron and paid agency scanning requests. The position consults with the Director to determine best practice for digitization requests. The position utilizes a variety of digitization equipment and editing software to create images for delivery to patrons and/or upload to the permanent electronic repository. The position is critical to meet agency's mission of providing access to the records of the State to the general public. In addition the position aids in the preservation of records through digitization. The position may attend digitization meetings with outside organizations and assist in determining the project needs. This position may lead contractual, DSCI, and/or intern staff on specific digitization projects.\r\n\r\n\r\n Scans media utilizing a variety of digitization equipment in accordance with Department policies. Position is responsible for the appropriate care and maintenance of the digitization equipment that they use. The position uses a variety of editing and renaming software to prepare images for delivery to patrons and/or upload to the permanent electronic repository in accordance with Department policies.�\r\n Provide regular updates on scanning projects to their supervisor in a timely manner�\r\n Reviews completed scanning jobs and updates Servicewise tickets�\r\n Leads scanning projects that are being completed in the Annapolis facility�\r\n Preparing images for oversized printing using commercial printing equipment�\r\n Attending scanning project meetings with outside organizations in order to collect the necessary information needed to calculate time and cost estimates\r\n\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
\r\n\r\nEducation: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\nExperience: Six years of experience in professional archival work�with public records.\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of professional archival experience for the required experience.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute academic credit from an accredited college or university at the rate of thirty credit hours for each year for the required experience.\r\n3.� Candidates may substitute two years of experience in the Archival Assistant series classification for required education and up to four years of the required experience.� �\r\n4.�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service�experience as a commissioned officer in Archivist classifications or�Archivist specialty codes in the Library and Archives field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r\n\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants�who possess the following preferred qualification(s).�Include clear and specific information on your application regarding�your qualifications.�\r\n\r\n\r\n Three years of experience of the required experience in production-level digitization�\r\n Two years of experience using Photoshop\r\n \r\n\r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees may be required to lift up to 50 pounds when record shipments arrive and climb ladders.� Employees in this classification must exercise caution during the retrieval and replacement of heavy volumes from library shelves, particularly when using library ladders. �Employees may work a rotating shift and may be required to work Saturdays.�\r\n
