POSITION DUTIES

A Commitment\r\nRecords Specialist, Lead is the lead level of work establishing and maintaining\r\ncommitment records files and resolving problems in the calculation of\r\nincarcerated individual sentences. Employees in this classification ensure\r\ncompliance with State laws, court orders and the regulations and policies of\r\nthe Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. Employees interact\r\nwith the public, incarcerated individuals, attorneys and officials to provide\r\ninformation and resolve concerns. Employees in this classification assign and\r\nreview the work of and train lower-level Commitment Records Specialists.\r\n�\r\nEmployees in\r\nthis classification receive general supervision from a Commitment Records\r\nSpecialist Supervisor. The work may be performed in a correctional and/or\r\ndetention facility environment. Employees are subject to call-in 24 hours a\r\nday and may be required to work on evenings, weekends and holidays.\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet all\r\nminimum qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people\r\neligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.\r\nEducation: Graduation from an\r\naccredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience: Two years of experience in\r\nreviewing, verifying, and interpreting information in order to make\r\ndeterminations and resolve problems involving the calculation of prison\r\nsentences in accordance with applicable laws, and the regulations and policies\r\nof the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to\r\napplicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear\r\nand specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.\r\n1.\r\nExperience making informed work decisions in accordance with court policies and\r\nlegal regulations across Circuit and District Courts to prepare judiciary\r\npaperwork, including commitments and releases utilizing MDEC and OCMS.\r\n2. 1 to 3\r\nyears as a law clerk working in the State or Federal Circuit or District Court.\r\n
