Anticipated openings for the 2026-2027 School Year.\r\n\r\n\r\nMaryland School for the Deaf (MSD) is a diverse,\r\nbilingual community who in partnership with families, provides an equitable and\r\nexemplary education in a nurturing, engaging, and challenging environment to\r\nensure our students achieve personal excellence and become lifelong\r\nlearners.� As such, we are looking for\r\ndedicated individuals who can join us in the education of the children at MSD.\r\n

MSD, Frederick Campus, 101 Clarke Place, Frederick, MD 21705\r\n
Main Purpose of Job
To develop and implement a bilingual educational program for Deaf students in a language accessible environment as well as provide an enriched bicultural environment conducive to the development of the optimal social and emotional growth of Deaf students. To provide a language enriched environment through use of sign language and printed word to meet the varied needs of Deaf students.\r\n
POSITION DUTIES
Assess and teach Deaf students including the\r\nimplementation of Maryland’s state standards and the development of IEPs.\r\nCreate and maintain a classroom conducive to learning.� Prepare and maintain weekly solid lesson\r\nplans based on student assessments and data, and teach lessons using the best\r\npractices of bilingual pedagogy and differentiated instruction.� Design and make materials to facilitate\r\nstudent learning.� Collect data and\r\nfollow individualized planning.� Develop\r\nIEPs and write quarterly progress reports; apply IEP accommodations and\r\nsupplementary aids in teaching and assessments.\r\nMaintain a grade book, portfolios, unit plans, daily attendance, and\r\nemergency classroom lesson plans. Utilize effective classroom management for\r\noptimal learning including managing student behavior; model appropriate\r\nbehavior and promote self-control.\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's\r\ndegree required.\r\n\r\n\r\nCandidates must be eligible to apply for or be\r\nwilling to obtain certification by the Maryland State Department of Education\r\nwithin a prescribed amount of time.\r\nFluency in American Sign Language and written English required.� Knowledge of the Deaf culture, Deaf\r\nEducation, students with additional disabilities and ability to teach students\r\non different levels and with varying educational and language acquisition\r\nbackgrounds is required.\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Education or Special\r\nEducation of Deaf students, Maryland State Department of Education\r\nCertification\r\n
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
