POSITION DUTIES

The Comptroller of Maryland's Revenue Administration Division is looking for forward thinking individuals to join our Payment Processing team. We are currently hiring for two (2) positions of Fiscal accounts clerk I. These positions are intermediate level work reviewing, verifying, recording and adjusting financial transactions pertaining to tax returns. The main duties are to be responsible for researching and applying payments to different types of taxpayer accounts and to prepare and deposit all check payments in a timely manner. This is a fast-paced, high-volume position that requires someone with good attention to detail. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to change priorities without notice, willingness to learn new processes, as well as be a team player in the unit. Telework may be eligible after 6-month probation.\r\n\r\n\r\nPLEASE NOTE:�May be requested to work evenings and/or Saturdays during the Tax Season. For the purpose of this statement, Tax Season shall be defined as the period beginning January 15th and closing May 15th.�\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r\nExperience: One year of experience reviewing, verifying, recording, adjusting and balancing financial transactions.\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required high school education.\r\n2. Six credit hours in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.\r\n3. A minimum of five courses or six months of accounting-related training in a vocational training program in subjects such as journalizing transactions, analyzing transactions into debits and credits, posting to a general ledger, payroll, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable may be substituted for one year of the required experience. \r\n4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience. \r\n** For education\r\nobtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the\r\nequivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation\r\nservice. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please\r\nsubmit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S.\r\nequivalence evaluating members identified at http://www.naces.org/members.html.\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\r\n\r\n Experience with remittance processing systems.�\r\n Experience in data entry.�\r\n Microsoft experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n
