Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this full-time contractual position is to provide mental health and/or substance-related disorder services to clients of the Garrett County Center for Behavioral Health, including individual and group counseling services. This position will complete mental health diagnostics and/or substance use assessments and evaluations. This position will provide services at any approved office location and/or a school location. The incumbent should be committed to professional integrity and clinical excellence and must demonstrate accountability, reliability, efficient time management, and effective, transparent communication with clients and colleagues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:� �Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC). \r\nExperience: None. \r\nNote: These requirements are established by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists. The Department of Budget and Management, Office of Personnel Services and Benefits does not have the authority to accept substitutions or equivalents. \r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:\r\n\r\n\r\n1. Experience using evidence-based treatment modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), is preferred.\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Experience managing multiple responsibilities and prioritizing work effectively.\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.01.09, a candidate placed in this classification must be licensed as a Graduate Professional Counselor by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Employees certified as a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) may practice graduate professional counseling for 2 years under the supervision of an approved supervisor. As required by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists, these employees must possess certification as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) by the end of this 2 year period.\r\n\r\n\r\n3. Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract, and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits.\r\n\r\nYou can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\r\n\r\nLeave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12-month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\r\n
