Introduction

We at the Potomac Center/SETT facility provide quality\r\nperson-centered support to adults with intellectual disabilities at our campus\r\nin Hagerstown, Maryland. Our aim is to partner with the community to help our\r\nresidents achieve their goals.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Potomac Center is a 62-bed licensed Intermediate Care\r\nFacility (ICF). This program focuses on using therapeutic interventions to\r\nempower residents as they learn the skills they need to successfully return to\r\ncommunity living.�\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Secure Evaluation and Therapeutic Treatment (SETT)\r\nProgram, located within the Potomac Center campus, is a 32-bed licensed\r\nForensic Residential Center that provides services to individuals with\r\nintellectual disabilities and court involvement within a safe and secure\r\nenvironment. The program provides assistance as they resolve their court\r\ninvolvement and work toward transitioning to a less secured environment. The\r\nSETT utilizes active treatment as well as providing evaluation, assessment and\r\ncompetency attainment education.\r\n\r\n

Main Purpose of Job

This position will help each person achieve their best possible nursing and mental health management skills, and ensure the resident’s health is priority. This position will participate in the provision/assessment of requisite medical services commensurate with individuals' needs and reflective of sound nursing judgment and applicable protocols.�This position will respond to a myriad variety of medical and mental health issues or concerns. This position, as necessary, must personally respond to emergency situations in accordance with applicable regulations and professional standards, issuing necessary instructions to subordinate staff in the process.�This position will be assigned to evening shift and will be scheduled for holidays, weekends, mandated time and/or overtime.\r\n\r\n\r\nThis position will be required to conduct or provide on-site services for assessment, monitoring, medication, report taking/giving, or for other reasons or purposes. This position may be called upon to provide or participate in a variety of programmatic or administrative functional roles including such rights-related issues as MANDT implementation. When assigned to evening shift (i.e., 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 a.m.) and at other designated times, this position will lead on-grounds medical staff.��\r\n\r\n\r\nThis position will be responsible for discharging all duties and conducting oneself at all times per all relevant Regulations, Standards, Policies and Procedures including: Departments of Budget and Management and Mental Health and Hygiene; Title 17 CODE OF MARYLAND REGULATIONS; MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING; Office of Health Quality;\r\nICF-IID; Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services; The Council on Quality and Leadership in Supports for People with Intellectual Disabilities at Potomac Center/SETT.��\r\n\r\n\r\nTo efficaciously fulfill totality of duties enumerated herein in timely and prescribed manner, following are deemed essential condition precedents:�\r\n\r\n\r\n Reporting per schedule on a regular and continuing basis inclusive of holidays, weekends, overtime, etc. per emergency status requirements�\r\n Willingness and ability to personally perform physically demanding tasks requiring lifting, transferring, supporting, engage in MANDT treatment, rounding to cottages in all types of weather�\r\n Monitoring associates provision of programmatic and personal care services in accordance with center standards and policies��\r\n Ensuring accountability throughout the shift for staff, individual and oncoming shift��\r\n Employee injury – IWIF (Injured Workers Insurance Fund) reports to OHCQ�\r\n Keep Cottage Managers /Nursing Director/ADON informed of questions, problems, and issues arising over the course of the shift\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:�� Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.\r\nExperience:�None. \r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:\r\n\r\n\r\n Experience assessing and responding to a wide range of\r\n physical & psychological needs of patients\r\n Experience working with mentally and intellectually\r\n disabled and forensic population\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence. \r\n2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland. \r\n3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete and maintain current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training. \r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs. \r\n
