\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Maryland Department of Agriculture is a department under Maryland's Executive Branch.� Formed in 1972 by the Maryland General Assembly to address the agriculture needs for the State of Maryland, the Department oversees and serves as a regulatory body for animal health , consumer services to include marketing and lab services, plant and pest management and resource conservation.� As the number one industry in Maryland, the diversity of agriculture programs in the State continue to expand and grow.��\r\n\r\n\r\nApplications are currently being accepted for Spray Truck Driver positions (Spring through late summer/early fall). Night shift hourly positions, part-time and full-time hours. The work is to be performed Sunday to Thursday in the Maryland Department of Agriculture's Mosquito Control Program. This is contractual employment and workers will be paid for actual hours worked only. Contractual paid leave and health benefits available.\r\n\r\n\r\n

LOCATION OF POSITION

Main Purpose of Job
Night Driver: This position will require the employee to operate a State vehicle equipped with an ultra-low volume insecticide sprayer to control mosquitoes in communities, residential areas and parks according to pre-planned routes. The employee will complete forms to document the insecticide application and will interact with the public to provide information as needed. Carries out mosquito surveillance and control activities under moderate supervision. Training will be provided. No experience necessary. Hours are evening, night and/or early morning, depending on the office of operation. This position is eligible for an additional hourly pay differential.\r\n
POSITION DUTIES
Job Duties may include:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Handling, mixing and applying Pesticide\r\n Safe operation of Department spray equipment and trucks\r\n Mosquito collection\r\n Field Inspection\r\n Record Keeping\r\n Supervision\r\n\r\nOn the job training will be provided.\r\n\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED required.\r\nEach candidate must be 18 years of age and posses a Driver's License valid in Maryland, with no more than 5 points on the candidate's driving record.�\r\n

BENEFITS
\r\nContractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\r\nLeave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
