Main Purpose of Job

This position (in the Medical Clinic) is the nursing staff that provides direct care to mentally ill offenders and assists in the maintenance of a safe and secure therapeutic environment within the Medical Clinic. This position will compile daily sick call sheets sent from the wards.\r\nThis position will work with assigned physicians as needed. This position will ensure timely completion of tasks that are required for both newly admitted patients & those due for Annual Physical Exams. This position will assist with assessments, medication orders, physicals, EKGs, vaccines, check crash cart, record oxygen level, monitor glucometer,\r\nAudiology screening, inventory and maintenance of medical supplies. This position has the ability to cross train and show competence in Optometry, Podiatry & Dental clinics.\r\nPhlebotomy is a must. All other duties assigned such as other clerical functions which utilize computer skills such as word and excel as necessary.\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:� � Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.\r\nExperience:� None. \r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:\r\n\r\n �Experience in forensic psychiatric settings\r\n �Experience in fast paced ambulatory clinic using medical skills\r\n �Experience using computer applications and/or Electronic Medical Records (EMRs)\r\n\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in�party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence. \r\n2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland. \r\n3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete and maintain current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training. \r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs. \r\n
