We are looking for a driven and personable Credit Control Business Advisor to join our Finance team. If you enjoy building relationships, solving problems and making a real impact on business performance, this could be the perfect next step in your career. As a Credit Control Business Advisor, you will support the Company's credit control function by managing corporate customer accounts, reducing overdue debt, assessing credit risk and providing advice and support to both customers and internal teams. Through your work, you will help improve collection performance, customer service and the overall efficiency of the Credit Control department.
Responsibilities

Act as the primary point of contact for corporate clients (including IOT) within the Credit Control function, providing professional advice and tailored solutions.

Proactively manage and collect outstanding debt on assigned corporate accounts via telephone, email, letters and other channels, while maintaining the highest standards of customer service.

Develop and implement bespoke collection strategies aimed at reducing aged debt and minimising bad debt exposure.

Negotiate and manage payment arrangements in line with company policies.
- →
Monitor key customer accounts for early signs of financial difficulty and recommend appropriate actions to minimise business risk.

Prepare monthly reports highlighting key problematic debtors, overdue balances and recommended actions for discussion with the Credit Control Manager and/or Head of Department.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with Sales, Customer Care, Finance and other departments to ensure timely resolution of customer and credit-related issues.

Liaise with internal stakeholders to facilitate efficient account management and improve the customer experience.

Escalate significant risks or issues where necessary and recommend suitable solutions.
- →
Carry out daily operational activities, including inbound and business outbound calls, credit checks, business document control, justification forms and other Credit Control requirements.

Support testing and quality assurance activities arising from system enhancements, projects or process improvements, ensuring successful implementation within the department.

Help identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- →
Provide guidance and support to team members on day-to-day operational issues and customer scenarios.

Promote continuous improvement in service quality, operational efficiency and customer focus within the Credit Control function.

Support the ongoing development, review and enhancement of Credit Control procedures and best practices.
- →
Identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities through analysis of customer accounts and departmental performance.
- →
Oversee and effectively manage customer claims, and handle call takeovers when escalation is needed, with the aim of improving first-call resolution.
Previous experience in credit control, collections, finance or a customer-facing role, ideally within a corporate or B2B environment.
Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the confidence to build trusted relationships with customers and colleagues alike.
A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and a keen eye for detail.
Good analytical skills and the ability to interpret account data and spot trends and risks.
Well organised, able to manage priorities and work well both independently and as part of a team.
Comfortable working with finance systems and Microsoft Office applications.
