Peer Support Specialist - Ontario County

Description

This role requires the ability to work independently and serve as a resource within the Ontario County community by recruiting participants for the Peer Training Academy, delivering a multi-week training curriculum on relevant topics, conducting outreach to potential employers, and providing individual support and follow-up to participants to help them secure employment.

• →High school diploma or GED required, Associate's degree preferred
• →Minimum two years’ experience providing education support preferably in a mental health setting.
• →Experience and knowledge of the public mental health system.
• →MUST have valid NYS Certified Peer Specialist (NYSPS) certification
• →Use one’s personal lived experience in role modeling recovery and providing hope for others.
• →Reliable transportation and valid NYS driver’s license required.

• Knowledge of and connection with community resources.
• Group facilitation
• Ability to maintain organized electronic health records for program statistics.
• Knowledge and understanding of virtual meeting software.
• Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Ability to prioritize and organize a variety of work assignments in a busy environment.
• Demonstrated strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Must demonstrate sensitivity, respect, and competency with diverse backgrounds, social identities and practices of community members.
