Description

   

The Peer Support Specialist will serve as a community resource throughout Monroe, Livingston, and Ontario Counties by promoting and educating community members about Peer Support (CARC/CRPA) as a professional career pathway.

This position will conduct outreach and provide education about the Peer (CARC/CRPA) profession, including information about obtaining CARC/CRPA Peer credentials and the steps required to obtain them. The Peer Support Specialist will connect individuals interested in becoming a CARC/CRPA Peer with appropriate training, certification, and community resources; provide support throughout the credentialing process; and assist individuals in identifying and pursuing employment opportunities within the workforce.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently in the community, building relationships with community partners, and using their own lived experience to promote hope, recovery, and the value of Peer Support.

Requirements

  

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum two years’ experience working in a Peer-led or recovery-oriented setting.
  • Experience and knowledge of the NYS CARC/CRPA credentialing requirements and process.
  • MUST have valid NYS CRPA or CARC certification
  • Use one’s personal lived experience in role modeling recovery and providing hope for others.
  • Reliable transportation and valid NYS driver’s license required.
  • Knowledge of and connection with community resources and service providers.
  • Ability to educate individuals about Peer Support 
  • Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality. 
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrated strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity, respect, and competency with diverse backgrounds, social identities and practices of community      members.
