Junior AI Application Developer

About the role
Over the past year we've used AI to build tools that run our business better. MergonWorks, our operations platform, helps free up cash, improve quality and plan production across our plants. Our HR dashboard won an innovation award. We've built automatic reject capture on the factory floor, a visitor system and a range of IT automation.

The ideas are coming faster than we can build them. We're looking for a developer to take these tools from beta to production at every site and to build what comes next. That includes a group-wide Environment, Health and Safety application.

You'll join a small team where your work is in use on the shop floor within weeks, not years.

What you'll do

• Take MergonWorks from beta to production and roll it out to all our sites, including adapting it to new systems.
• Build a group EHS application, working with our Safety teams and piloting at one site before rollout.
• Build reports and apps for Finance, Quality, Operations and Sales.
• Use AI coding tools every day, with every change tested and reviewed before it goes live.
• Document what you build so it can be supported and extended.
• Work within our AI governance and information security standards.

What you'll bring

• Strong software development skills across multiple languages.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development, such as Claude Code or similar tools.
• Comfort with Git and a pull-request workflow.
• A practical, secure approach to building software that people rely on.
• A problem solver who enjoys getting to the root of how things really work.
• Enthusiasm for using technology to make a real difference to the business.
• A collaborative approach: you'll work closely with people on the shop floor, in Quality, Finance and Safety, and across our sites.
• A team player who shares knowledge and supports colleagues.

Nice to have

• Experience with manufacturing ERP or MES systems.
• Power BI.
