Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.\r\n**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations**\r\n

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this position exists is to provide operational\r\nleadership and oversight for the operational functions of the Parks and\r\nRecreation Department’s recreation facilities. The Assistant Director, Parks\r\nand Recreation Operations, is responsible for ensuring consistent, high‑quality\r\noperations across the City’s recreation facilities, including community\r\ncenters, specialty facilities, and related assets. Responsibilities include\r\nproviding coordinated direction for facility operations, promoting alignment\r\nacross divisions, and supporting the effective delivery of recreation programs,\r\ncommunity engagement, and public services. The incumbent leads operational\r\nreadiness for new and renovated facilities, oversees facility performance\r\nstandards, and ensures coordinated responses to operational needs by guiding\r\nand supervising facility managers and supervisors in implementing departmental\r\ngoals. This classification reports directly to the Director of Parks and\r\nRecreation.\r\n

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation\r\nManagement, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field,\r\nand three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in parks and\r\nrecreation operations, facility management, public services operations, with one\r\n(1) year of supervisory experience overseeing staff in a recreational, facility,\r\nor operational setting. Experience\r\ncoordinating readiness for capital projects is a plus.\r\n�\r\nNOTE:� Qualifying education, training, and\r\nexperience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to\r\nperform the job will be considered.\r\n
