Nature of Work
The\r\nfundamental reason this classification exists is to support the enforcement of\r\nlocal revenue ordinances and ensure compliance with City business license,\r\nsales tax, and other applicable regulations. The Revenue Enforcement Officer is\r\nan APOSTC-certified law enforcement professional who conducts field\r\ninspections, investigations, and enforcement activities related to unlicensed\r\nor non-compliant business operations outside of normal business hours. This is a part-time vacancy, that requires independent judgment, public contact, and close coordination\r\nwith other departments and agencies. This classification reports to the Revenue\r\nDepartment leadership and the Chief Financial Officer.\r\n
Minimum Qualifications
High\r\nschool diploma or GED; college coursework in criminal justice, public\r\nadministration, accounting, or a related field is preferred. Current\r\ncertification by the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission\r\n(APOSTC) with two (2) years of prior experience in law enforcement, tax\r\nenforcement, or municipal regulatory compliance.��\r\n\r\n\r\nNOTE: Qualifying\r\neducation, training, and experience that provide the requisite knowledge,\r\nskills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.\r\n
Special Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama\r\ndriver’s license and an insurable driving record. Will be required to work\r\nflexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as operational needs require. This\r\nclassification operates under the authority and framework of the Montgomery\r\nPolice Department (MPD), deriving its enforcement powers from the MPD standards.\r\n
Kind of Examination
Applications are being accepted to fill a Part-time vacancy and any other vacancies that may occur during the life of the register.� The current vacancy�is with the�City of Montgomery Finance Department.�Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire.� For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application form and supplemental questionnaire completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were. If more than five qualified applications are received, the supplemental questionnaire will be used to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken.
