Team Lead - Mechanical Engineering
Quick Summary
Be part of something incredible. Metals are necessary for our world, but mining historically faced issues with waste, sustainability, and inefficiencies. MineSense is changing that.
We are looking to add an experienced Team Lead – Mechanical Engineering to our Engineering team in Vancouver, BC. Reporting to the Director – Mechanical, this role is responsible for providing technical leadership to a team of engineers responsible for the design, analysis, testing, and validation of mechanical systems. These systems are consistently exposed to vibration, shock, thermal, and other harsh environmental conditions found in global mining operations. An ideal candidate will be a detail oriented self-starter that enjoys developing innovative solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Masters or PhD preferred).
- Generally, 6 to 8 or more years of experience in mechanical design and product development, with exposure to complex or harsh operating environments.
- Generally, 2 to 4 or more years of People leadership experience with engineering teams, including ownership of delivery, technical decision-making, and team coordination.
- Experience in designing mechanical systems for harsh environments, including shock, vibration, and environmental exposure (e.g., water ingress, dust, temperature extremes).
- Solid understanding of the dynamic behaviour of mechanical systems and familiarity with analysis and validation approaches for vibration, shock, and durability.
- Hands-on experience with testing, instrumentation, and validation of mechanical systems.
- Proficient with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD tools (experience with ANSYS or similar simulation tools is an asset).
- Experience with vibration analysis and FEA methods for evaluating mechanical systems under dynamic loading (e.g., modal, harmonic, random vibration, transient, shock).
- Experience operating electrodynamic shaker tables and environmental chambers.
- Experience with mining, heavy machinery, oil and gas, aerospace, or other extreme environment equipment.
- Experience with DFMEA, RCA, DVP&R, and durability testing.
- Demonstrated ability to drive technical decisions and solve complex engineering problems.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
