At Minitab, we help organizations harness data to make better decisions. As AI adoption accelerates across our products and internal workflows, we are expanding our AI governance capability beyond policy and certification into technical oversight and enablement.

We are seeking a technical AI Compliance & Systems Engineer to operationalize AI governance within enterprise systems—including LLMs, custom applications, software development tools, third-party software, and emerging model ecosystems.

This role complements our legal and AI management system leadership by adding hands-on technical capability: evaluating, advising, integrating, and governing AI systems at the implementation layer.

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • Design and implement technical controls and guardrails for enterprise AI usage, including LLM-based tools (e.g., models, custom applications, APIs, plugins).
  • Build or support secure pipelines and integrations for AI tools, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Partner with engineering and IT to embed governance directly into AI workflows, APIs, and system architectures.
  • Lead technical due diligence of third-party AI tools, LLM providers, plugins, and embedded AI features in software products.
  • Assess data flows, model behavior, security posture, and risk exposure of AI-enabled systems.
  • Develop and maintain evaluation frameworks for approving or rejecting AI technologies.
  • Translate ISO/IEC 42001 controls into practical technical implementations.
  • Work alongside the AI management system lead to ensure controls are enforceable within systems, not just documented.
  • Help integrate AI governance into existing security architecture (ISO 27001) and enterprise tooling.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to product, engineering, and business teams deploying AI capabilities.
  • Define approved patterns, architectures, and usage models for AI tools.
  • Help teams move quickly while staying within risk tolerance and compliance boundaries.
  • Implement mechanisms for monitoring AI system usage, outputs, and risk signals.
  • Support AI Impact Assessments (AIIAs) with technical validation of system design and behavior.
  • Contribute to incident response and investigation related to AI systems.
  • Translate regulatory requirements (EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO standards) into technical specifications and controls.
  • Partner with legal and compliance teams to ensure alignment between policy and implementation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in AI/ML systems, security engineering, or technical risk/compliance roles.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • LLMs and AI platforms (e.g., OpenAI APIs, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)
    • API integrations and data pipelines
    • Cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • AI/ML system architecture and lifecycle
    • Data security, access controls, and secure design principles
  • Ability to evaluate technical implementations of AI, not just conceptual models.

Nice to Have

~1 min read
  • Experience integrating or governing ChatGPT Enterprise or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with AI risk frameworks (ISO/IEC 42001, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 23894).
  • Background in application security, DevSecOps, or ML engineering.
  • Experience assessing third-party software and vendor risk.
  • Certifications in cloud, security, or AI (e.g., AWS, Azure AI, CISSP).

This is not a traditional compliance role.

You will:

  • Work directly with AI systems and tooling, not just policies
  • Influence how AI is implemented across the company
  • Act as a technical gatekeeper and enabler for AI adoption
  • Bridge the gap between legal requirements and real-world system behavior

Minitab has a long-standing commitment to precision, trust, and responsible innovation. As we expand into AI-driven capabilities, we are investing in building one of the most practical and technically grounded AI governance programs in the industry.

You’ll join a growing, multidisciplinary team spanning legal, compliance, and engineering, with the opportunity to shape how AI is safely deployed at scale.

Apply today and help define how AI is governed—not just in policy, but in practice.
