We are currently recruiting for a Clinical & Supplier ESG Strategy Manager to support our Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) team.
Position Overview
As a key member of the Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) team, the Clinical & Supplier ESG Strategy Manager supports the development and management of MMC’s ESG clinical program.
The ideal candidate for this role will be a dynamic individual with experience in project management, or environmental management initiatives within healthcare, who displays a passion for sustainability and has strong experience delivering projects involving change and transformation, ideally related to sustainability, though not mandatory.
The Clinical & Supplier ESG Strategy Manager will engage with and support Clinicians within MMC’s Membership on sustainability goals and practices, helping Members advance ESG without compromising the quality of patient care. This role will be a key driver of growth for MMC’s ESG Clinical Program and will be responsible for enabling and enhancing ESG collaboration with clinical leaders within our Membership, including but not limited to, surgeons, physicians, nurses, and other clinical health professionals. The role also ensures the clinician voice is heard by directly involving Members in the vetting and sourcing process across the continuum of care, with a particular focus on assessing suppliers products and services through the Clinical ESG Program.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical ESG Program
Program Management & Governance Support
Lead the management of MMC’s ESG Clinical Committee, including:
Launching a collaborative forum for ESG-focused clinicians
Managing all presentations, documentation, and project management related to Committee working group(s)
Ensuring a strong clinical ESG lens across Member initiatives
Enabling frontline ESG ideas to move through appropriate action channels
Facilitating collaboration with other MMC ESG Committees and industry stakeholders as applicable
Advancing evidence-based ESG practices
Developing metrics to monitor Program success
Implementing improvement opportunities within the Clinical ESG Program
Lead and drive further embedding of ESG into MMC’s clinical processes and practices
Establish standardization of clinical ESG processes as required
Identify and manage ESG change management opportunities internally and for Members
Supplier, Market & External Engagement
Supporting the Senior Manager, Clinical & Supplier ESG Strategy with supplier ESG initiatives and ad-hoc requests.
Remain current on Clinical ESG advancements, networking with peers on best practices
Develop a Clinical ESG Industry strategy and coordinate with relevant:
Associations and Health Authorities
External stakeholders to advance sustainability and ESG standards
Liaise with MMC’s Clinical and Quality Assurance team
Support development of ESG Clinical criteria for inclusion in sourcing initiatives
Development of “green substitutes” for clinical products
Clinical ESG category mapping strategy
Development of clinical criteria for RFPs
Knowledge Management, Communications & Reporting
Manage Clinical ESG content on MMC’s ESG Member Portal and internal MMC Compass site
Prepare various business documentation and communication, including:
Presentations and proposals
Briefing notes and/or business cases
Supporting communication and social media content for Clinical and Supplier ESG Program activities
Qualifications and Skills
Education, Training, and Experience
Mandatory
Post secondary degree in Environmental Sciences, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field.
5+ years healthcare sector experience in a management role, including acute care or a related field.
Strong project management skills with the ability to build credibility and engage clinicians and other relevant stakeholders in change management initiatives.
Experience leading clinician presentations and managing associated clinical working groups to advance initiatives.
1+ years of experience leading and/or managing sustainability initiatives or programs
Excellent communication skills, including presentation, business writing, and collaborative engagement (active listening, verbal, and written).
Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite.
Demonstrated ability to compile relevant research, conduct a review and analysis of said research and provide an executive summary of findings appropriate to identified receiving audience i.e. clinical and non-clinical.
Self-directed, detail-oriented, and effective working both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
Experience leading and/or managing sustainability initiatives or programs at a hospital or health care system level.
Familiarity with healthcare sustainability challenges, including medical waste, climate resilience, and supply chain impacts.
Knowledgeable in strategic sourcing and operational processes, including contracting and (e)sourcing to support supply chains.
Business-minded with knowledge of health care budgeting and value proposition approaches.
Knowledge of Broader Public Sector (BPS)
Travel
Ability to travel to Mohawk Medbuy offices if required.

MMC is a Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) employer offering a comprehensive benefits package and flexible remote work options. The targeted hiring range of this role is $95,821 - $112,305 dependent on experience. This job posting is for an existing vacancy.
