It provides medical and mental health services through its 11 acute care hospitals, four skilled nursing facilities, six large diagnostic and treatment centers and more than 80 community-based clinics.

NYC Health + Hospitals is seeking psychologist to be an integral part of an interdisciplinary, facility-based comprehensive psychiatric emergency program (CPEP). The CPEP program is designed to help patients across the lifespan experiencing psychiatric emergencies and received linkages to all levels of care including acute inpatient care and higher level of care services such as partial hospitalization program. The psychologist will provide psychological assessment, collateral support, and disposition for discharge for patients referred for emergency psychiatric care and will work closely with the program’s medical providers, social workers, nursing providers, peer counselors, and larger healthcare system

  1. Psychiatric screening/assessment of patients
  2. Crisis intervention
  3. Psychoeducation for patient and family
  4. Completion of required documentation
  5. Participation in program evaluation and development
  6. Attendance at required departmental, division, unit meetings
  7. Psychological testing as needed
  8. Interdisciplinary collaboration as needed (i.e., opportunities for teaching didactic seminars, case-conferences, etc.)
  9. Supervises psychology interns and externs, level I psychologists as assigned by the Director of Psychology
  10. Participates in psychology staff meetings and educational functions
  11. Other duties as assigned

-A Doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA accredited program or an accredited program recognized by the Department of Education of the State of New York

-Psychological needs of patients with serious and persistent mental illness and/or trauma 

  • Evidence-based and time-limited practices (e.g., DBT, CBT, etc.) in diagnosis, treatment planning, and interventions
  • Crisis Intervention, Individual and Group Psychotherapy and Psychological assessments 

-2+ years experience in clinical practice preferred

-NYS License to Practice Psychology

-Advanced MS Office Suite experience required

-Strong computer literacy and comfort learning new computer programs 

-Excellent reading, writing and public speaking skills

-Ability and willingness to provide in-person or remote clinical care
