Lead Software Engineer – Integration
Quick Summary
Lead and develop a team of 4 engineers on the MuleSoft platform. Show them how to do things right, help them grow, and create an environment where coding is a pleasure.
Job Description
At our Animal Health division, we protect animal health and develop the medicines of the future. Right now, we are looking for an experienced colleague to become a senior technical leader within our Enterprise Integration capability, with deep expertise in our MuleSoft-based integration platform, and a mentor to a smaller engineering team.
Forget corporate dullness and routine. This role offers a great 50/50 balance. Half of your time will be spent technically leading, mentoring, and developing a team of 4 talented developers (no rigid administration, but rather a partner and technical role model), while the other half gives you the opportunity to design modern architecture, try new approaches, and write clean code.
Your mission will be to bring vision and order to our enterprise integrations across cloud (AWS), SaaS, e-commerce, and ERP systems. You will be a key player in our agile international team, collaborating closely with colleagues in Prague, the US, and India (including the opportunity to travel to our overseas offices about once a year).
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Technical leadership and mentoring (50%): Lead and develop a team of 4 engineers on the MuleSoft platform. Show them how to do things right, help them grow, and create an environment where coding is a pleasure.
- →Architecture under your baton (50%): Help shape the roadmap for integration services and design robust solutions connecting cloud platforms, SaaS applications, e-commerce solutions, ERP, laboratory systems, and modern microservices architectures. You will have the chance to build things conceptually.
- →Integration strategy and solution guidance: Evaluate new integration demands and help determine the most appropriate solution approach, promoting reusable, scalable, and enterprise-standard integration patterns across the organization.
- →No technological archaeology: Drive modern integration patterns (API-led connectivity, event-driven architecture, pub-sub mechanisms) and ensure platforms run like clockwork.
- →Influence on product direction: Act as an equal partner to business and product teams when planning the backlog. Your voice on technical debt and innovation truly carries weight here.
- →Partnership with technology leaders: Stay in close contact with our technology partners and vendors, influencing the joint development of our platforms.
- →Global community: Connect technical communities across Prague, the US, and India, opening doors to global know-how sharing.
- Background in software engineering: At least 5 years of experience in development, implementation, integration, and microservices (iPaaS, API Management, SOA, Enterprise Application Integration).
- Tech stack overview: Good experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and a broad understanding of enterprise integration technologies, cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), APIs, and event-driven architectures (Kafka, Event Grid).
- Engineering practices: Understanding of the modern software development lifecycle, CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Kubernetes), and DevSecOps practices within a regulated enterprise environment.
- English and communication: Ability to clearly present technical concepts to both business and leadership, and to collaborate in an international environment (US, India).
