Regional Coordinator of Interpreter Services (West)

Salary Notes: This position is designated as a Union position. All new hires must start at the entry level rate for this role per the collective bargaining agreement/MOA with OPEIU, Local 6. Pay may advance within the salary band according to the CBA/MOU.

• Supervises, and provides oversight of interpreter services in designated county regions and court locations.
• Assigns daily regional interpreters, including reviewing interpretation and translation assignments in real time.
• Provides consecutive interpretation, simultaneous interpretation, sight translation, and translation in person or in remote proceedings for all court users.
• Facilitates communications between the Office of Language Access (OLA), court personnel, and interpreters.
• Consults with their supervisor to resolve issues.
• Travels statewide as required for service to court departmental divisions, and to effectively supervise and provide oversight to interpreters.
• Working with the Training Manager, provides training and guidance to new and existing Court Interpreters.
• Responsible for implementation of the OLA Standards and Procedures and Trial Court’s Language Access Plan.
• Acts as a liaison to court departments and other agencies.
• Performs other duties as required.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Five (5) years of related work experience.
• Interpreter Certification.
• Must have a valid Massachusetts Driver's License or possess or have access to
other reliable methods of transportation.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for meeting minimum qualifications.

• Consecutive and simultaneous modes of interpretation, sight translation and translation.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position serves as a supervisor to Court Interpreters.

Working Conditions: Work is frequently performed in office or similar indoor environments. Work may be performed in person in the court or other locations where the court has business, or remotely over video or teleconference.
Ability to travel to court locations within an assigned region.

Physical Demands: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
