The learning products offered by the National Restaurant Association reach a global audience of nearly two million individuals a year through our educational offerings and operational support services. We focus on both compliance-driven and career-development engagements for the restaurant and hospitality industry.

Reporting to the SVP, Product Strategy & Innovation, this individual accelerates the implementation and impact of an emerging best-in-class content product platform ecosystem, including but not limited to course and test delivery, and website CMS, while ushering in a new knowledge infrastructure model that unlocks immense value in combination with emerging technologies and in alignment with evolving consumer expectations.

The role partners deeply across product management, product development, user experience, engineering, and business stakeholders, and is accountable for transforming how the Association’s authoritative expertise is created, managed, delivered, experienced, and tracked.

This position operates from our Chicago office, following our hybrid work structure with a required three days onsite, Monday - Wednesday and remote days Thursday and Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure best-in-class delivery of all current formats across the customer product lifecycle, including but not limited to discovery (website) and engagement (courses, tests, resources, etc.) in all modalities, and for all personas
  • Guide the implementation and optimization of best-in-class content management, course, and test delivery platforms
  • Drive improvements in content interoperability to unlock reach and impact
  • Improve customer experience and satisfaction by continuously optimizing platform performance
  • Establish, and gain executive-level alignment for, a future state knowledge creation, management, and delivery vision considerate of anticipated technological advancements and evolving consumer expectations and experiences
  • Usher in a new knowledge infrastructure model which enables unique operational speed and efficiency in creating and maintaining knowledge, provides unparallelled flexibility in hyper-personalizing engagement, and meets users where they are at their time of need
  • Transform how customers engage with the Association’s expertise, driving high-efficacy and -efficiency experiences aligned to modern consumer expectations and preferences

Lead transformation toward next-generation content systems, including:

  • Modularity and granularity, transforming from course-level packaging to atomic learning objects
  • Enable single-source content management to instantly and seamlessly update all outputs
  • Implement schema-driven structured content models (e.g., topic-objectives-skill relationships)
  • Enable interoperable and headless delivery, via APIs across platforms
  • Enable dynamic, on-demand assembly of learning experiences, assessments, and credentials
  • Ensure content is AI-ready, including structured metadata enrichment, embedding, tagging, and semantic indexing
  • Engage with data science and AI experts to enable automation, personalization, summarization, transformation
  • Modernize authoring workflows to support:
    • Accelerated timelines, including the ability to employ generative AI
    • Collaborative, cloud-native content creation, and related workflows
    • Component reuse and version control
    • Rapid iteration and experimentation
  • Enable effortless + seamless integration with third party platforms (LMS, HRIS, etc.)
  • Develop platform capabilities for content syndication and licensing, white-label delivery, and API-driven monetization models

Collaborate closely with content development teams (SMEs, instructional designers), line-of-business Product Managers, UX and Design, Platform Engineering (Business Analysts, Product Owners, architects), Data/AI teams, and partnership leaders.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years in Product Owner / Product Manager roles, with platform product experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in learning, education technology, publishing, or credentialing ecosystems
  • Deep familiarity with:
    • Content management systems (CMS, headless CMS)
    • Learning standards (SCORM, xAPI, LTI, QTI)
    • API-based platforms and microservices architectures
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Experience with AI/ML-enabled content systems
  • Background in digital publishing or knowledge platforms
  • Familiarity with data models for skills, competencies, and taxonomies
  • Experience in high-stakes assessment environments
