We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented and proactive Superintendent Engineer to join our Technical team. In this role, you will manage the technical performance of assigned vessels, ensuring high standards in maintenance, repairs, inspections, and compliance. You will oversee dry-dockings, monitor budgets, and support the crew with technical guidance to uphold operational excellence.

 

Reporting directly to the Technical Senior Manager, key accountabilities include:


  • Ensure the assigned vessels are kept in high technical and operational condition, including overseeing the daily operations of maintenance and repair, budgeting, survey schedules, onboard assessment, inspections, docking, etc., based on the quality standards set by the company
  • Develop and submit reports on all technical issues on assigned vessels, to ensure that vessel maintenance is within the established budget while maintaining the required standards of quality
  • Project the requirements in technical maintenance activities (spare parts etc.) and ensure the accurate and timely execution and third-party services for assigned vessels and the compliance of deliverables from subcontractors, to ensure the quality, quantity, and compliance of the provided spare parts according to standards and requests for each assigned vessel
  • Follow up on the computerized PMS system, ensuring proper reporting of works and follow-up of outstanding cases
  • Monitor assigned vessels in terms of cost (speed, fuel consumption, spare parts, lubricants, engine, and chemical stores requisitions, electronics/electrical spare parts)
  • Propose new technological upgrades to the vessels for the improvement of the energy footprint of the vessels
  • Attend to vessel dry-docking, repairs, and surveys when required and determine repair specifications and maintenance
  • Provide and compile reports upon completion of dry-docking, including summaries of works performed, operational budgets, and actual expenditures
  • Monitor the expiry of all class, flag, and safety certificates for the assigned fleet of vessels and arrange for surveys and their renewal as needed
  • Coordinate and communicate with Masters and Engineers, suppliers, forwarders, and port agents, ensuring the smooth handling of the department's daily tasks and supporting the timely delivery of ordered spare parts to our vessels
  • Execute the programmed and ad-hoc inspections on assigned vessels, to identify technical issues and potential discrepancies from operational standards and propose to implement solutions
  • Coach and train crew members for technical matters and additionally monitor their performance in frequent intervals


Required Qualifications:

  • You have at least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in ship management companies with Liner and/or Dry Bulk.
  • You have earned your University Degree in BSc degree in Mechanical or Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering or a Chief Engineer qualification
  • You have the ability to travel abroad

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in Greek and English.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure with a hands-on and collaborative approach.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision) ERP system is considered an asset.
