The Data and Technology Division enables the NHVR to be a modern, data-led regulator through the development and implementation of information, data and analytics across all NHVR core functions. The division leads the delivery of best practice technology, IT operations, information, architecture and security functions as well as the execution of digital enabling solutions that support the NHVR’s vision and strategic direction.
The NHVR administers the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and has overarching responsibility for managing heavy vehicle access. Part of the legislative requirement for managing heavy vehicle access is to ensure we work with road managers to deliver an access system to enable industry to access or apply for access to road networks.
To achieve this, the Digital Enablement business unit aims to deliver consistent, streamlined and effective products and services for its customers. They partner with customers to define, design and develop solutions that deliver improved organisational efficiency and effectiveness, building a modern regulator.
As a key part of Digital Enablement, the various teams deliver industry-leading digital services for the benefit of the heavy vehicle industry. In partnership with stakeholders, they aim to deliver operational efficiency and great customer experiences through innovative customer-centred products, supporting the organisation to become a modern and effective regulator. Digital Enablement manages the development and delivery of NHVR’s digital products through a variety of different digital platforms including, the NHVR Portal, the spatial program and compliance and enforcement applications.
The Compliance and Enforcement technology portfolio supports operational regulatory activities through a combination of legacy applications, integrations and strategic digital platforms that are evolving to meet future business needs.
Digital Enablement product teams incorporate a benefits approach to program objectives. The product teams are focused on the realisation of business benefits and looks for innovative solutions to complex business problems
Key responsibilities of this role are:
Primary Objectives
The Senior Developer will work within Digital Enablement product teams and will:
- Provide technical development, support, integration and solution design services across the Compliance and Enforcement technology portfolio.
- Maintain, enhance and support existing compliance systems while contributing to the delivery, transition and ongoing support of future digital platforms and integration capabilities.
- Deliver high-quality application development, system integrations and technical solutions aligned with business requirements, architectural standards and the strategic direction of Data & Technology.
- Provide technical leadership, development expertise and operational support to ensure compliance technology services remain reliable, secure, maintainable and fit for purpose.
- Contribute to testing, quality assurance, incident management and continuous improvement activities to support the ongoing operation and evolution of Compliance & Enforcement systems.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Work collaboratively with Digital Enablement team members and business stakeholders to design, develop, support and enhance Compliance and Enforcement technology solutions.
- Develop, configure, maintain and support compliance applications, integrations, services and APIs across the Compliance and Enforcement technology portfolio.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for production systems, ensuring timely resolution of incidents, defects and operational issues.
- Contribute to the delivery and transition of legacy compliance systems to future digital platforms and strategic technology solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable and scalable code in accordance with agreed development standards, architectural principles and agile delivery practices.
- Manage and maintain work items, defects and technical activities through Azure DevOps, Jira or other approved delivery tools.
- Conduct code reviews, data validation, testing and quality assurance activities to ensure solutions meet business and technical requirements.
- Continuously monitor and improve the performance, reliability, security and maintainability of applications, integrations and services.
- Contribute to technical design activities, solution evaluations, documentation, standards and technology roadmaps.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies, tools and practices that may improve service delivery, operational efficiency or system capability.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors and delivery partners.
- Comply with WH&S policies and procedures across Australia and contribute and promote a safe and healthy work environment including relevant COVIDSafe plans (particularly if traveling).
- Adhere to all NHVR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NHVR internal processes.
