New Jersey Resources is seeking a Sr. Accountant Fixed Assets to assist in the preparation, review and approval of journal entries, as well as the management of the monthly close process for the fixed asset area.
Major Responsibilities• Assist in the preparation, review and approval of journal entries, and support the management of the monthly close process for fixed asset area.• Analyze financial results and variances, ensuring completeness and accuracy of the subsidiary general ledgers, project accounting and PowerPlan records.• Provide reporting support, information, and analysis to assist with consolidation and the External Reporting team’s quarterly and annual SEC and Regulatory reporting requirements.• Support capital budgeting process.• Serve as a technical resource for fixed asset accounting matters, providing guidance to staff accountants and business partners while maintaining ownership of assigned accounting areas.• Perform, review and approve key account analyses and reconciliations, including the timely investigation and resolution of discrepancies and reconciling items.• Review work order setup, monitoring, and closeout activity to ensure proper capitalization treatment.• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, analyses, and supporting documentation related to fixed assets, depreciation, capitalization policies, and internal controls.• Execute and document key internal controls related to fixed assets, including reviews of depreciation, work order activity, and asset monitoring, in accordance with established control narratives and procedures.Position Requirements:• Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field.• 6+ years of accounting or finance experience required, experience in utility organization preferred.• Advanced knowledge of accounting principles.• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).• Ability to multi-task and prioritize to satisfy multiple requests and deadlines.• Strong organizational, communication and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.• Ability to meet deadlines and work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team environment.• PowerPlan fixed asset subledger experience is a plus
