About the team

Our Policy team sits at the centre of some of the most important and high-profile work across the organisation. We help shape the policies, frameworks and regulatory approaches that underpin public protection and support the professionals on our register.

Working closely with operational teams, legal colleagues, healthcare partners, government stakeholders and other regulators, we provide expert policy leadership on emerging issues, legislative reform and strategic priorities. We are a collaborative, supportive and ambitious team that values curiosity, innovation and evidence-led decision making.

Your role and impact

As Policy Manager, you will lead the development of policy across a diverse and evolving portfolio, responding to developments in healthcare, regulation and the wider political landscape.

You'll use research, evidence and stakeholder insight to develop policy positions, inform organisational decision-making and contribute to legislative and regulatory reform. You'll work across the organisation to ensure that policy changes are translated into practical solutions and successfully implemented.

This role offers the opportunity to:

Lead complex policy development projects from inception through to implementation.
Shape responses to emerging political, healthcare and regulatory developments.
Commission and oversee research, stakeholder engagement and evidence gathering activities.
Build strong partnerships with colleagues, government departments, regulators, employers and professional bodies.
Influence the future development of our regulatory framework and register.
Provide leadership across a portfolio of work, supporting performance, planning and continuous improvement.
Champion evidence-based decision making and policy excellence across the organisation.

The work you deliver will directly contribute to maintaining public confidence in regulation and ensuring our regulatory approach continues to meet the needs of the future.

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone who combines strong policy expertise with excellent judgement, communication and relationship-building skills.

You'll bring:

Experience

Significant experience leading complex policy development or problem-solving activity, using evidence, consultation, stakeholder engagement and implementation planning to deliver successful outcomes.
Experience working with operational or service delivery teams to design and implement change and improvement initiatives.
Experience interpreting, applying or developing legislative, regulatory or policy frameworks within a complex environment.

Skills

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate evidence from multiple sources, identify key themes and develop practical, proportionate recommendations.
Excellent communication skills, with experience producing high-quality reports, briefings and presentations for a range of audiences.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility and productive relationships across professional disciplines and organisational boundaries.
