Systems Engineer- Hybrid

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Systems Engineer to join our team. This critical role supports a complex DHS effort within the CBP Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD), which ensures the seamless screening and processing of travelers at U.S. ports of entry. As a Systems Engineer, you will work collaboratively with application teams, end-users, PSPD Divisions, and infrastructure teams to maintain system performance, resolve technical challenges, and ensure the reliability of production systems. Responsibilities: Provide O&M support for applications in a production AWS Cloud environment. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues swiftly to minimize disruptions. Monitor production applications and databases to ensure consistent and optimal performance. Analyze recurring issues and implement effective long-term solutions. Participate in 24/7/365 O&M operations, including weekends, nights, and holidays as needed. Use ticketing systems such as ServiceNow and JIRA to track and resolve issues. Requirements Work Schedule: Hybrid – 2 days a week onsite in Ashburn, VA (Candidate must reside in the DMV area) Clearance: DoS Top Secret or DHS Full-BI Education: BS/BA degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience. (4 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree) U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to maintain and obtain a CBP Background Investigation prior to the start. Proven experience supporting applications in AWS Cloud environments. Strong troubleshooting and monitoring skills for production applications and databases. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve recurring issues. Familiarity with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow and JIRA. Desired Qualifications: Expertise in monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Kibana, and Grafana. Experience configuring hardware devices and supporting Linux and Windows scripting.
