The Oak Brook Park District is seeking an energetic and motivated Swim Coach to join our Aquatics team. Responsibilities include leading practices, promoting teamwork, and helping athletes improve their competitve swimming technique and performance. Qualified candidates should have strong communication skills, previous swim experience, and a passion for working with young athletes in a positive and supportive environement.
Hours:
- Practices Monday - Thursday evenings
- Swim Meets Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons
Essential Job Functions
- Works with Head Swim Coach and conducts swim team practices for beginner and intermediate age swimmers.
- Actively coach swimmers in competitive stroke training to improve stroke technique and improve swimmers competitive performance.
- Attends swim conference meetings.
- Coordinates and attends all scheduled swim meets.
- Responsible for coordinating parent volunteers at all swim meets and special events.
- Coordinates and attends all swim team special events and fund-raisers.
- Creates and posts all meet line-ups and information.
- Maintains good communication with all parents of swimmers through newsletters, flyers etc.
- Organize swim meet schedule for each new season.
- Responsible for swimmers conduct at all swim meets and practices.
- Recruits new swimmers to program.
- Maintain appropriate records of all swim team members times and records.
- Maintain appropriate records of all swim team meets and results.
- Responsible for following all safety rules and guidelines, and for performing all duties in the safest way possible to prevent injury to themselves, other staff members and the swimmers.
- Complete other duties as assigned by Aquatic Center Manager.
- Perform the job in a safe manner and in compliance with the District policies, procedures, work and safety rules, and the employee handbook.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Focus on welcoming diversity, encouraging inclusion and creating equity for all.
- Support the District’s safety initiative including adhering to policies and procedures, performing your job in a safe manner, attending required training, seeking additional training as needed, promptly reporting accidents/incidents, and proactively addressing hazards in the workplace.
