About the Role
~1 min readThe Benefits Specialist, Leave Administration & Retirement Support provides specialized support for employee leave and retirement programs across the OSU/A&M System.
This role will coordinate FMLA and other protected leave processes in partnership with HR Consultants, departments, Payroll, Benefits, and other HR partners. Responsibilities include determining eligibility, reviewing required documentation, tracking leave usage, communicating leave requirements, and helping employees understand benefit coverage and premium responsibilities while on leave.
This role will assist employees, retirees, and beneficiaries with retirement transitions, plan provisions, enrollment and contribution questions, retiree insurance, transaction processing, issue resolution, and retirement education.
The position requires sound judgment, attention to detail, discretion with confidential information, and the ability to clearly explain complex benefit and retirement information. Must become a Notary and will be required to notarize documents as necessary.
Requirements
~1 min read- High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

At least four (4) years’ experience in employee benefits, human resources, or a related customer service role supporting HR functions.

Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience.

Bachelor's degree in HR or Business-related field.
- Experience administering or supporting FMLA, disability, or other employee leave programs.
- Experience supporting retirement plans, retiree benefits, or other employee benefit programs.
- Experience interpreting policies and communicating benefit information to employees.
- Experience working with HRIS, benefits administration, leave management, or retirement recordkeeping systems.
Must become a Notary Public.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases, priorities, deadlines, and follow-up requirements.
- Accuracy and consistent attention to detail when reviewing documentation, processing transactions, and maintaining records.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain benefit, leave, and retirement information clearly to employees and campus partners.
- Proficiency with a variety of software (word processing, spreadsheet, database, scanning)
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and benefit information.
