As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Test & Validation Engineer to strengthen our Engineering team.

At Optics11, we develop cutting-edge fiber-optic sensing solutions that make critical infrastructure and underwater security systems smarter, safer, and more reliable. In this role, you will play a key part in verifying and validating our products throughout the development lifecycle. You will design, execute, and analyze tests that evaluate product performance, functionality, reliability, and compliance with requirements. Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will help ensure our products perform as expected in both laboratory and real-world environments.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and execute laboratory, field, integration, and validation tests according to approved test plans and procedures.

  • Set up and maintain test equipment, instrumentation, fixtures, and test environments to support reliable and repeatable testing.

  • Collect, process, and analyze test data to evaluate product performance, functionality, reliability, and compliance with requirements.

  • Identify trends, anomalies, and performance deviations, and support investigations into technical issues and failures.

  • Execute verification and validation activities and generate objective test evidence to support requirement verification.

  • Collaborate closely with Verification & Validation Engineers and multidisciplinary development teams throughout the product development lifecycle.

  • Create clear test reports, technical documentation, and data visualizations to communicate findings and recommendations.

  • Maintain accurate and traceable records of test execution, methodologies, and results in line with engineering and quality standards.

  • Apply structured problem-solving techniques to support root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Contribute to the improvement of test methods, automation, data quality, and overall verification and validation practices.

  • Provide feedback on product performance, testability, and verification approaches to support the development of robust and reliable products.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 1–3 years of experience in testing, validation, R&D, product development, or a similar engineering environment.

  • Experience with laboratory testing, field testing, and technical data analysis.

  • Familiarity with measurement equipment, sensors, instrumentation, and testing methodologies.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly and effectively.

  • Hands-on mindset and willingness to work with prototypes and test equipment.

  • Experience with Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar tools is a plus.

  • Eligibility to obtain Dutch/NATO security clearance.

You'll be working with clients in the defense and security sectors, obtaining a Certificate of No Objection issued by the AIVD (Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service) is mandatory.
