Legal & ComplianceCompliance Specialist

Our mission at Oura is to empower every person to own their inner potential. Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. We've helped millions of people understand and improve their health by providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles.

Empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.

Oura is building a Global Trade Program organized around three connected pillars: Risk, Controls & Governance; Trade Value Optimization; and Market Expansion & Enablement. As the Global Trade Compliance Manager, you will own the Market Expansion & Enablement pillar. You will make sure new products and new markets have trade readiness built into launch timelines, rather than discovered as a blocker after commitments have already been made. This is a ground-floor opportunity to build a program, not inherit one.

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • Own trade readiness for new product introductions (NPI) and new market entries, running classification/origin pre-assessments and market-entry regulatory scans before launch commitments are made
  • Build and administer repeatable trade-readiness checklists and review cadences so trade input reaches product and go-to-market decisions early, not after shipping dates are locked in
  • Serve as Trade's voice in launch decision forums, giving product and regional expansion teams a clear, defensible trade-readiness signal for go/no-go decisions
  • Act as the connective tissue between the Risk, Controls & Governance pillar and the Trade Value Optimization pillar, so risk clearances and landed-cost/duty inputs reach launch decisions with enough lead time to act on
  • Establish the handoff mechanisms this program needs today: routing new SKU, market-entry, or channel-expansion signals to the risk register, and requesting risk clearance before a duty-savings position is claimed
  • Give the Trade Value Optimization lead advance visibility into upcoming launches so FTA eligibility, preferential program qualification, and first-sale opportunities can be evaluated before sourcing and pricing are finalized
  • Design and stand up the intake, documentation, and escalation processes for the pillar
  • Build and maintain a Trade Request Intake process so landed-cost and risk-clearance requests are logged and tracked rather than handled ad hoc
  • Report on pillar KPIs, including the percentage of launches with trade readiness assessed before commitment and average lead time between trade engagement and launch date

Requirements

We would love to have you on our team if you have:

  • 8-12+ years of professional experience in global trade compliance, customs, or international trade operations, ideally in consumer electronics, health-tech/medical device, or CPG
  • Deep working knowledge of global  import/export regulations, HS classification, country-of-origin determinations, and trade-risk assessment for new product launches
  • Proven ability to build a program, process, or function from scratch, with the judgment to define governance and cadence where none currently exists
  • Excellent cross-functional influence skills with the ability to get Product, Legal, Sourcing, and Go-to-Market teams to adopt a new trade-readiness gate without formal authority over them
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, comfortable escalating risk and readiness status to program leadership
  • Familiarity with FTA/preferential trade programs and duty-savings mechanisms is a plus
  • OE & IT Diploma in International Trade / World Customs Compliance, or CILT Certificate of Customs Competency, preferred not required

This is a hybrid UK role with a strong preference for candidates based in the GMT/BST (UK) time.
