Responsibilities
~2 min readOur client is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Credit Senior Accountant to join their Team. This individual will be responsible for the accounting, financial reporting, and portfolio monitoring functions supporting the firm's credit strategy. This role partners closely with the finance and operations team, third-party fund administrators, auditors, and deal teams to ensure accurate and timely accounting across a portfolio of credit investments tied to large, complex technology and government-services transactions. This is a strong fit for a candidate who has operated within a larger, more institutionalized private credit or private equity finance function and is looking to take on a critical role within a best-in-class platform.
- →Manage day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of senior secured, unitranche, and structured credit investments, including interest accrual, PIK/OID amortization, and fee income recognition.
- →Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and investor reporting for credit fund vehicles, in coordination with the third-party fund administrator.
- →Monitor credit facility draws, borrowing base certificates, covenant compliance, and interest rate resets across the credit portfolio.
- →Support cash management, capital call and distribution processing, and treasury operations across multiple credit fund entities and co-investment vehicles.
- →Partner with deal teams and capital markets on the onboarding of new credit investments, ensuring accurate setup of new positions in accounting and portfolio monitoring systems.
- →Lead or support the year-end audit process for credit vehicles, including preparation of audit schedules, supporting documentation, and coordination with external auditors and tax advisors.
- →Support NAV calculations, management fee computations, and waterfall mechanics for credit fund structures, partnering with the fund administrator as needed.
- →Assist in enhancing accounting processes, controls, and reporting infrastructure to support the continued growth of the credit platform.
- →Respond to investor due diligence requests and support quarterly and annual investor reporting deliverables for the credit strategy.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5–8+ years of accounting experience within a private credit, direct lending, or private equity credit platform, or a fund administrator serving similar clients.
- Strong understanding of loan-level accounting mechanics (PIK, OID, amortization schedules, unitranche and first lien/second lien structures).
- Experience coordinating year-end audits for private credit or private equity fund vehicles.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with fund accounting or portfolio management systems (e.g., Investran, eFront, Allvue, or similar).
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, institutional environment.
- Big Four or national accounting firm audit background with private equity or private credit fund clients.
- Prior experience at a large-cap private equity firm's credit platform, BDC, or direct lending manager.
- Familiarity with government services, aerospace & defense, or technology-focused investment portfolios.
- Exposure to capital call/distribution mechanics, waterfall structures, and management fee/carry calculations at scale.
At Petra Funds Group, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring practices. The compensation range for this position is $130,000 - $180,000 per year. This range represents the base salary only. Actual pay will depend on factors such as qualifications, experience, and skills.
