Technical Lead - Database Administrator

The Technical Lead - Database Administrator, multi-team engineering organization where individual teams own their applications, and the DBA function provides shared operational expertise, performance guidance, and platform stewardship. They will partner closely with DevOps and engineering teams to ensure database reliability, observability, and sound operational practices, while serving as a subject matter expert.

This is a highly hands-on role with direct impact in a relatively flat organization. The DBA is expected to identify issues, diagnose root causes, and implement improvements end-to-end without heavy handoffs or approval layers. The focus is on keeping database platforms healthy, performant, secure, and scalable, while engaging early in design and development to guide data modeling and database usage. The environment primarily runs on AWS RDS, with a significant SQL Server footprint and a growing PostgreSQL workload. Day-to-day work centers on performance analysis, query optimization, and operational troubleshooting, with a strong emphasis on proactive improvement.
