This responsibility focuses on the collection, validation, and advanced analysis of facilities and operational data to support informed decision‑making, performance measurement, and process improvement across Facilities Operations. The Business Data Analyst 1 applies analytical judgment and statistical techniques to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and usability, transforming raw data into meaningful information.
- Gather, compile, and validate complex data from multiple internal and external sources, including work order systems, financial systems, labor tracking systems, and customer feedback tools.
- Analyze operational, workload, financial, and performance data to identify trends, risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Apply elementary statistical methods to estimate trends, measure outcomes, and support forecasting and comparative analysis.
- Design, administer, and manage survey instruments for internal and external customers; determine statistically valid samples; verify survey results; and synthesize findings.
- Ensure data integrity through routine audits, reconciliation, and correction of discrepancies across systems and reports.
This responsibility centers on transforming analyzed data into clear, accurate, and actionable reports, dashboards, and visual tools that support operational planning, leadership decision‑making, and customer transparency. The Business Data Analyst 1 ensures reporting products are technically sound, visually clear, and tailored to diverse audiences.
- Design, develop, and maintain routine and ad hoc reports, dashboards, tables, charts, and graphical summaries for Facilities Operations and campus partners.
- Extract, manipulate, and tabulate data using spreadsheets, databases, statistical software, and reporting tools.
- Interpret analytical results and prepare narrative summaries, written reports, and sections of larger analytical or business reports.
- Translate complex data into multiple formats based on audience needs, including leadership briefings, customer-facing summaries, and operational reports.
- Oversee report formatting, consistency, accuracy, and documentation to ensure reliability and repeatability.
This responsibility involves providing consultative analytical expertise to leaders, managers, and partners to improve operational performance, cost effectiveness, quality, and customer satisfaction. The Business Data Analyst 1 serves as a trusted advisor, helping stakeholders understand data, apply insights, and make evidence‑based decisions.
- Provide consultation and analytical support to Facilities leaders and managers regarding performance metrics, trends, and business outcomes.
- Respond to complex data requests by conducting targeted research, analysis, and interpretation.
- Deliver data‑driven recommendations to support planning, prioritization, staffing, workflow optimization, and service delivery improvements.
- Participate in or facilitate cross‑functional workgroups and committees by providing relevant data, analysis, and interpretive guidance.
- Serve as a subject matter resource for Facilities data definitions, metrics, reporting tools, and analytical methodologies.
This responsibility supports continuous improvement by contributing to data‑related projects, system enhancements, and staff skill development. The Business Data Analyst 1 ensures analytical work products meet quality standards and supports knowledge transfer across the team.
- Provide limited project coordination or analytical support for data, reporting, and system enhancement initiatives.
- Collaborate with information systems staff on the design, testing, and implementation of new or enhanced data and reporting solutions.
- Review reports and analytical work prepared by lower‑level analysts or support staff for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standards.
- Provide training, documentation, and guidance on analytics tools, survey methods, reporting processes, and data interpretation.
- Support standardization of data practices and continuous improvement of reporting workflows.

Requirements
~1 min readBachelor's degree in a business field and 6 months of experience that included analytical, database, spreadsheet and/or financial experience, technical writing, quantitative analysis or use of statistical principles; OR
Associates degree in a business field plus two years of experience that included analytical, database, spreadsheet and/or financial experience, technical writing, quantitative analysis or use of statistical principles; OR
Four years of experience that included analytical, database, spreadsheet and/or financial experience, technical writing, quantitative analysis or use of statistical principles; OR
An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience supporting facilities, operations, or maintenance functions.
Experience with enterprise systems (e.g., Oracle eAM, data warehouses, reporting platforms).
Advanced skill level with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Oracle, Project time entry.
Basic knowledge of web software such as Dreamweaver.
- Advanced knowledge of maintenance requirements on structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, elevator, sheet metal, and grounds systems.
Experience compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data; developing reports and written analysis; and using spreadsheets, databases, and reporting tools.
Ability to resolve advanced customer service issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience and knowledge of working with a diverse group of people with conflicting and urgent needs and ability to maintain a harmonious working relationship campus wide.
Ability to operate multi-line phones and a two-way radio system.
- Advanced skill level with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Oracle, Project time entry, Data Warehouse/Discoverer.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance requirements on structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, elevator, sheet metal, and grounds systems.
Work hours to be Monday through Friday day shift, 7:30am – 4:00pm. This is a hybrid position, three days on-site, two days remote, up to management discretion.
