About the Role
~1 min readAs the Channel Intelligence Lead, you are the link between the audience and our production team. You study the data to find out what people like and, more importantly, what makes them leave. You take those insights and turn them into clear instructions so that the rest of the team can make the next video better than the last one.
You are obsessed with understanding human behavior through numbers.
- You will break down retention graphs to see exactly when viewers drop off and figure out what part of the script or edit caused it.
- You will analyze click-through rates to see which hooks and visuals are actually getting people into the video.
- You will use AI tools to scan thousands of comments and community feedback to understand how people really feel about our content.
- You will look at global trends and what other successful channels are doing to find new topics or formats we should test.
Data is useless if it doesn't change how we work. You make sure our factory learns.
- You will be the "reality check" for the writers and youtube specialists. You’ll tell them exactly what to change in the next script based on what the data shows.
- You will help the thumbnail and video teams optimize their work by giving them clear evidence of what is winning and what is losing.
- You will build simple ways to track our progress that the whole team can understand, without using confusing charts or corporate jargon.
- You will identify patterns in our most successful videos and help us turn those patterns into a system we can use again and again.
- You will look for patterns in our AI-generated content. If certain AI workflows are producing scripts that have lower retention, you identify that so we can fix the system.
- You won't just look backward. You will use data and AI trend tools to help us predict which topics are about to blow up so we can get ahead of the curve.
- You keep a close eye on what is working for other big players. You analyze their successes so we can learn from their tactics without making the same mistakes.
- Analytical Thinking: You don't just see numbers; you see stories. You can look at a chart and explain the human reason why a video succeeded or failed.
- Problem Solving: You don't just report a drop in views. You find the specific "leak" in our content and come to the table with a plan to fix it.
- High Ownership: You take the channel's growth personally. You are proactive about finding new opportunities and you don't wait for someone to ask you for a report.
- AI Fluency: You know how to use AI to process large amounts of data, summarize trends, or automate your reporting. You use tools to do the heavy lifting so you can focus on the insights.
- Total Honesty: You tell the team the truth about what is working, even when it’s tough to hear.
- Action Oriented: You hate data for the sake of data. You only care about insights that actually lead to a better video.
- Curiosity: You are always asking "what if" and looking for the next big shift in how YouTube works.
