Payroll Manager & HR Business Partner

You're comfortable wearing multiple hats — one moment you're auditing payroll data, the next you're welcoming a new hire on their first day. Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for payroll processing, including data entry, auditing employee records, and processing payroll changes accurately and on time.
  • Assist with benefits administration including enrollments, terminations, and responding to employee benefit questions with clarity and care.
  • Maintain HR records, prepare reports, and ensure data accuracy across HR systems.
  • Support new hire onboarding by assisting with offer letter creation, coordinating background checks, and delivering a seamless onboarding experience.
  • Own the Bellingham new hire welcome experience, making every new team member feel like they've arrived somewhere special.
  • Triage the HR shared mailbox, responding to routine inquiries and escalating complex questions to the right people.
  • Serve as a go-to resource for employees with questions on policies, procedures, and general HR topics.
  • Assist with compliance reporting and audits as needed.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition by building relationships in the Bellingham community to help develop local talent funnels.
  • Support HR projects, process improvements, and initiatives as assigned, always looking for smarter, more efficient ways to deliver great service.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure timely and accurate delivery of HR services across the organization.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 1–2 years of HR, payroll, or administrative experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic HR principles, payroll processes, and benefits administration is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with the highest level of integrity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills — professional, approachable, and clear.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with an HRIS (ADP, Workday, or similar).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment without dropping the ball.
  • A genuine customer-service orientation — you care about the employee experience, not just the transaction.
