Director of HR

Toronto or Waterloo, hybrid | Full-time | Reports to the COO

Pontosense builds products that help seniors live better at home. Our sensors detect falls and track sleep, health and wellness, with no cameras, wearables or pendants. Families get peace of mind, and older adults keep their independence. We are deployed in 24 countries, and our technology is led by our CTO, Dr. Yihong Qi, who holds 680 patents.

We are scaling. The team grows 20 percent in the coming months and doubles over the next year. Our consumer product launches in January, and one of the largest deals in our history is in delivery. This is the moment for a founding HR leader to guide our culture.

This is the founding HR role at Pontosense, leading people and culture. You shape how it feels to work here and how people stay, grow and are trained. You own contracts and policies, and have a hand in recruiting. You work directly with the COO and CEO, across teams in Canada and abroad. The structure you build is the one we scale on.

• You have been the first or most senior people leader at a growing company, and built more than you inherited

• You are as happy fixing an onboarding step yourself as setting the strategy

• Pay: $130,000 to $180,000 CAD base salary
• This is a new role, created to grow the team, not a backfill
• How we hire: typically an initial interview, a short case, and a final interview in person with our CEO and members of the team. We may adjust this depending on the role
• We leverage AI tools in our hiring process, but prioritize human input and manual review
